Final words from today's Harper's:

" . . . psychologists warned that people who keep diaries are more likely to suffer from headaches, insomnia, digestive complaints, and social problems."

Comments:
"Social problems?" Well, that's vague and frightening.

But don't poets already suffer from all these things anyway? Does that mean we suffer more?
 
Yes, I think so. Being diarists of the soul, and all.

Uh oh, I just gave myself heartburn, a workshop rule from way back when was "never write ____ of the soul. It's cheap." How will I face my peers . . .
